Project Torque is the free North American version of Level-R. It is a multiplayer online racing game (MMORG) with partially chargeable content, or micro-transactions. It features gameplay elements such as tuning and customization. The game is titled as Level R in Europe with a slightly different game interface and menus. Europe, US, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, and Japan versions, are developed by Invictus Games and are subject to Invictus copyright.
Aeria Games, a Japanese company, is a fast growing community connecting regular and casual gamers. A relative newcomer to the MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) world, began in late 2006, they have already released 5 Free-to-Play MMO games. This includes the ever popular competitive racing game Project Torque, anime role-playing game Dream of Mirror, and fantasy game Shaiya. Aeria worked with developer Invictus (award winning 1nsane - PC Gamer's "Best Off-Road Game") to create Project Torque, the first Free-to-Play COAR, or Competitive Online Arcade Racer, game.
